Length of impression is the measured span of the stamped character sequence or wheel positions — not the full holder body, numbering-head frame, shank, fixture, or part clearance.

Use this tool for mechanically controlled layouts: type holders and numbering heads. It is not intended for manually spaced individual hand stamps.

How does your character sequence behave?
Core layout inputs
Only valid sizes for the selected calculation path will be used.
For numbering heads, this is treated as number of wheels.
Choose round if the impression will follow the outside surface of a cylindrical part.
Physical width or length where the stamped impression must fit.
Linear entries are inches or millimeters. Angular coverage is entered in degrees.
Use this if you know the exact part number, serial format, lot code, or fixed text. If left blank, the calculator will create a sample sequence based on the number of positions.
Optional: add application review context
These details do not change the length-of-impression calculation, but they may affect whether Numberall recommends layout review or a sample stamp.
