1930
Start of Innovation
Numberall begins and the start of a brand that will be a key player in manufacturing metal marking equipment in the USA.
Our founder Max Bayerdorffer started Numberall in Staten Island, NY in 1930. Before beginning Numberall, Max patented several poultry band products and sold them nationally. It was then that Max found he needed a way to stamp his product with identification. This began the incubation of metal marking equipment, beginning with our revolutionary rotary stamp. It was designed to save time in locating individual steel stamps and it was ideal for utility workers who needed to stamp aluminum pole plates, electric meter tags, telephone cable tags, plumbing pipes, machine plates or electrical plates.
Images (below) are the legacy of Max, his inventive nature led to patenting legbands for poultry and these images are of ads taken out in newspapers and farm publications.

By 1963, the next generation was running Numberall. Herman Bayerdorffer, a driving force in Numberall history, recognized the value of customized marking equipment, and began working with his engineers to develop new manufacturing processes to capture this market. In 1968, Herman moved Numberall to Maine, tapping into the strong manufacturing labor pool of local machinists.
