If you’re familiar with Numberall Stamp & Tool Co., you likely know that we have a long-standing tradition of manufacturing high quality marking equipment right here in the U.S. In a couple short years, we’ll celebrate nine decades since Numberall’s founding, but this year we hit a different milestone—Numberall’s 50th year operating in the great state of Maine.
Numberall was originally founded in Staten Island, New York by Max Bayerdorffer, whose need for marking bird bands led to the first Numberall product—a single wheel rotary stamp. After years of developing the Numberall product line and successfully leading the business, Max’s passing led to new leadership under his son Herman. It was five years later that Herman took advantage of a property opportunity in Sangerville, Maine and opened a new division of Numberall. In 1983 Numberall’s headquarters officially moved to Sangerville, where operation still takes place today in the building beside Carlton Stream. Six years later, Herman’s son Daniel sits at the helm of the company, continuing the Bayerdorffer legacy into present day.
Numberall’s 50th year in Maine was recently celebrated among close friends and family members, employees past and present, and vendors—all of whom have contributed to the longevity of the company. Employees were honored, including one member who worked at Numberall for 48 years, and attendees commemorated the 19.5 year average tenure of Numberall’s employees.
Numberall also celebrated generational success, with Max’s great grandson, Alexander Bayerdorffer, making his own mark at Numberall. Alexander started working full time at Numberall two years ago and, like most employees at Numberall, wears many hats. His role focuses on the engineering and design department, as well as production control to ensure products are shipped in a timely manner.

Of course, Numberall couldn’t have celebrated this milestone without the loyal customers who have purchased Numberall’s marking equipment over the years. From stamping keys and pet tags, to indenting firearms and space shuttle parts, Numberall has provided solutions to various customer needs with reliable, high quality marking equipment.
